Autumn

We are learning to use our senses and adjectives in our writing to make it more interesting. 

In Autumn I hear leaves falling on the ground and the rain pouring on the ground. I smell the air and it is different to summer.

In Autumn I pick apples to make apple pie. It tastes like a crunchy apple. It smells like cooked apple and I hear crunch when I eat it and it tastes yum and it feels hot.

Autumn sounds like the birds flying away to a warm place in the sky. It is very cold in fall. The leaves have hot colours like the bright sun.

In Autumn I hear the wind rustling the leaves on the trees. I see the rain pouring down. I taste yummy food. In Autumn I touch my cosy bed. I smell the damp wet air.

Three Billy Goats Gruff

We loved watching Takahe reading group acting out "Three Billy Goats Gruff". Barney you were a fantastic reader with very good expression and Lachlan you were a scary troll! Joe, Blaine and Kieran we enjoyed watching you play the parts of billy goats!

Furry Visitor!

Thank you Elsie for sharing your rabbit Pepe with the class. Pepe is only a baby rabbit. Baby rabbits are called rabbit kittens!

Maths

We are learning about time. Last week we explored seconds and minutes. We know there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour. We can skip count in 5 minute slots around our class clock and are looking forward to learning more about time and how to read our class clock so we know when it is morning tea and lunch time!

In groups we had to see how long a task would take. Some of our tasks were, reading a poem, pouring water in a cup, doing 5 star jumps and writing the numbers 1 to 20. We used stop watches and counted 1 "banana" 2 "banana" 3 "banana"........ to see how long a task took.

Gardening

Planting for a beautiful Spring Garden

In groups we planted daffodil and tulip bulbs in our garden. Our bulbs will start to germinate (Germination is the process in which a plant emerges from a seed and begins growth) in autumn or winter, live through the winter, then bloom late winter or spring.

 Today we discussed the four seasons. We talked about which season we were born, what we may see or do in each season, how Room 4's garden will change in Autumn and then made a season wheel with illustrations what we associate each season with.

Autumn - March, April, May

In Autumn I go to the indoor swimming pool by Orlagh

In autumn the leaves change all sorts of colours by Francie

Winter - June, July, August

In Winter I drink warm milk and wear warm clothes by Amber

In winter it is very cold and you have to wear warm clothes by Blaine

Happy Easter!

This afternoon we had an easter hunt with our buddy class Room 21. After our easter hunt we ate lunch with our buddies then got to play games with them. We had so much fun!
