First the African man read us a story about a little girl. Next he played some instruments they were a farting drum and a needle instrument. Secondly he played instruments that he had made. My favourite was the double flute. Then we went for lunch.

Room 4 Scientists
Try some lava in a cup
What we used:
A
clear cup
¼
cup of vegetable oil
1
to 4 teaspoons of salt
Water
Food
colouring
What we did:
1.
Fill the cup about ¾ cup full of water
2.
Add about 5 drops of food colouring
3.
Slowly pour the oil into the cup. See how the oil floats
on top
4.
Sprinkle the salt on top of the oil
5.
Watch blobs of lava move up and down in your cup!
6.
Add another teaspoon of salt to keep the effect going.
How does it work?
It looks a bit like a lava lamp because the oil
floats on top of the water because it is lighter than the water. Since the salt
is heavier than oil, it sinks down into the water and takes some oil with it,
but then the salt dissolves and back goes up the oil!!!

Autumn
We are learning to use our senses and adjectives in our writing to make it more interesting.
In Autumn I hear leaves falling on the ground and the rain pouring on the ground. I smell the air and it is different to summer.
By Kieran
In Autumn I pick apples to make apple pie. It tastes like a crunchy apple. It smells like cooked apple and I hear crunch when I eat it and it tastes yum and it feels hot.
By Lachlan
Autumn sounds like the birds flying away to a warm place in the sky. It is very cold in fall. The leaves have hot colours like the bright sun.
By Amber
In Autumn I hear the wind rustling the leaves on the trees. I see the rain pouring down. I taste yummy food. In Autumn I touch my cosy bed. I smell the damp wet air.
By Alex Three Billy Goats Gruff
We loved watching Takahe reading group acting out "Three Billy Goats Gruff". Barney you were a fantastic reader with very good expression and Lachlan you were a scary troll! Joe, Blaine and Kieran we enjoyed watching you play the parts of billy goats!
